In the latest tasting of Israeli wines by Robert Parker's Wine Advocate, two of the top three scoring wines were from the Carmel stable.
These were Yatir Forest and Carmel Limited Edition.
Carmel Winery and its subsidiary, Yatir Winery, had no less than five wines scoring 90 points or more.
These were as follows:
Yatir Forest 2008, Judean Hills 92 points
Carmel Limited Edition 2008, Upper Galilee 91 points
Carmel Mediterranean 2008 90 points
Carmel Shiraz, Kayoumi Vineyard, Upper Galilee 90 points
Yatir Merlot Shiraz Cabernet 2008, Judean Hills 90 points

The Israeli wines are tasted by Mark Squires, the Israel specialist on Parker's tasting team.
Six consecutive vintages of Yatir Forest, the premier label of Yatir Winery, have now received 90 points from the Wine Advocate. Yatir Forest is the only Israeli wine to have achieved this.
Furthermore three of the last four vintages of Carmel Limited Edition, the flagship wine of Carmel Winery, have received 90 points or more.
Yatir Winery is situated at Tel Arad in the north east Negev desert, and their vineyards lie in Yatir Forest, at up to 900 meters above sea level
in the southern tip of the Judean Hills. Yatir Winery was founded in 2000 and produces 150,000 bottles a year.
The winemaker is Eran Goldwasser, who graduated from Adelaide University, Australia.
Yatir is 100% owned by Carmel, and is one of Israel's most exciting boutique wineries.
Carmel Winery's main winery is at Zichron Ya'acov, on the southern slopes of Mt. Carmel, overlooking the Mediterranean Sea.
Carmel also has the small Kayoumi Winery in the Upper Galilee. Carmel Winery was founded in 1882 by Baron Edmond de Rothschild.
The chief winemaker is Lior Lacser, who graduated in Beaune, Burgundy. Carmel is the historic winery of Israel, and also the largest, producing 15 million bottles a year.
