>> Tesco To List Carmel Ridge

Tesco, the number one supermarket chain in the United Kingdom, has decided to list two wines from Israel. The wines are:
Carmel Ridge Carignan Shiraz, Shomron 2009
and Carmel Ridge White, Shomron 2009.

Carmel Ridge, (known as Reches in Hebrew), are Carmel's entry level wines to their Appellation label, a series of regional wines. Each of the wines come from vineyards in specific sub regions. Both Carmel Ridge wines were grown in Zichron Ya'acov vineyards, situated on the southern slopes of Mount Carmel, overlooking the Mediterranean Sea. These vineyards are part of the Shomron Region.

Carmel Ridge Carignan Shiraz is produced from 65% Carignan and 35% Shiraz.
This medium bodied wine has a bright red color, with an aroma of cherries and plums, a little vanilla in the background and a satisfyingly long finish. It is soft, fruity and refreshing.

Carmel Ridge White is a blend of Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay and Colombard and a little Semillon. The wine was cold fermented in stainless steel tanks to preserve the aromas of melon, pear and lime. The wine is clean, refreshing with good balancing acidity.

Tesco is the number one wine retailer in the UK. The selection of these two wines from Carmel Winery, reflects new interest in Israeli wines.
