>> News » Two New Wines from Avidan

Avidan Winery has launched two new wines. The first is the Avidan Full Wine 2007. This is made from Cabernet Sauvignon from an Ella Valley vineyard and Petite Sirah from Sorek Valley, both in the Judean foothills. It is a powerful, full bodied wine in the Avidan tradition.

The second is called Avidan Prio 2007, a blend of Carignan, Grenache, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, aged for two years in French oak. This will be of interest to anyone following the new trend in Israel to Mediterranean varieties. Both Full & Prio have been made in small quantities.

Avidan is a small, boutique, family winery, founded in 2004, and situated at Kibbutz Eyal, close to Kfar Saba in the southern part of the Sharon Plain. It is owned by the by Shlomo and Tsina Avidan, who come from nearby Ra’anana. Tsina is the winemaker, Shlomo looks after the vineyards and daughter Shira does the marketing, including the design of stylish and eye catching labels. In recent years the winery has come the fore after receiving a 90 point score from Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate. Avidan Winery produces 30,000 bottles a year.
