Vin Italy is best known as one of the world’s most famous wine exhibitions, which is held annually in Verona. What is less known is that they also have a roving exhibition to advance Italian wines, in other countries.
Last year, Vin Italy visited Russia and more recently Japan. On both occasions, two Israeli wineries were the only two foreign wineries represented. They were Carmel Winery, the historic winery of Israel, founded in 1882 by Baron Edmond de Rothschild, and Yatir Winery, one of Israel’s finest boutique wineries.
Both wineries were represented by Arnon Geva, the export director of both Carmel & Yatir, seen in the photo pouring wine. Geva said: “In Japan there was incredible interest in Israeli wine and great appreciation about the quality of the wines they tasted.” The event was attended by sommeliers, retailers, restaurateurs, who were both surprised and pleased to find Israeli wines at an Italian event!
