1. Rogov’s Guide To Israeli Wine 2009, published by Toby Press, www.tobypress.com. This is in essence a pocket wine guide, with the scores of wines from all the main wineries by Daniel Rogov, Israel’s most well-known wine and restaurant critic, who writes for Haaretz Newspaper. Rogov’s Guide is published annually.
2. The Wine Route of Israel, last published in 2008 by Cordinata, Tel Aviv. (tel +972 3 5226855; Fax +972 3 5276661; email cordi995@bezeqint.net This is more a coffee table book about wineries, listed geographically with maps. Most of the essays at the beginning of the book were written by Adam Montefiore, who works within the Israeli wine industry and is known as the ambassador of Israeli wine.
3. The Bible of Israeli Wines, published in 2002 by Modan Publishing House, Moshav Ben Shemen, Israel. This was Israel’s first serious wine book in English. Though out of date with regard to wineries, it provides a good background to the industry. It was written by Michael Ben Joseph, a pilot, who is also a wine writer having written three wine books.

4. Drink and Be Merry by Michal Dayagi-Mendels. It was published by The Israel Museum, Jerusalem and is available from the museum souvenir shop. This covers wine and beer in ancient times.
5. The Vine & Wine – Archaeology in The Land of Israel by Professor Amos Hadas. This book is unfortunately only in Hebrew, but there are plans to publish it in English. Professor Hadas is a scholar and true wine lover who is the authority on the ancient history of Israeli wine.
