Dalton: Two New Releases (K)
04.07.2009
By: Daniel Rogov
Two wines, a red and a white, just being released to the market and both showing once again how winemaker Na'ama Mualem is doing very nicely indeed at Dalton.
Best

Dalton, Alma, 2007: Almost impenetrably dark garnet in color, a full-bodied blend of 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 22% Merlot and 13% Cabernet Franc. Developed in French barriques for 14 months, showing gently mouth-coating tannins and light notes of sweet cedarwood, opens with ripe black and purple fruits, those on a background of chocolate and sweet chewing tobacco. Approachable and enjoyable now, but best 2011–2014. NIS 84. Score 90. K
Dalton, Viognier, Reserve, 2008: Light gold in color, fermented with wild yeasts and highly aromatic. Rich ripe and generous, showing appealing honeyed nectarine and pineapple fruits all with a hint of pepper. Rich and harmonious. Drink now–2013. NIS 74. Score 91. K |
